Chairs are a bit like people. Each one is different and this is what I love most about upholstery.
Stripping down a chair is always exciting as you never know what you'll find. Mostly, it's dirt, but sometimes the odd coin or bottle cap is waiting in the stuffing - I like to leave a photo inside of what the chair looked like when I started working on it so the next upholsterer to strip it down can see it in another life.
This Supporto Task Chair, designed by Frederick Scott for Hille in 1979 used to be grey with purple tweed material. I took it apart, powder coated it white and covered the seat and back pads with a beautiful Bute material that should last for many years. Now i just have to figure out how to put it back together.

i love it! and your idea of leaving a photograph inside.
that fabric makes me giddy.
Do you write something on the back of the photo? How marvellous to find something like that. Wondering who it will be, in the future...
