The sun set tonight in a clear sky and as the light faded, I heard birds singing.

Yes, that's right. Birds. Singing. Like they do in the springtime. You know, when it is warmer and the long, grey, wet days fade to a distant, if slightly unpleasant, memory.

I know us Brits talk about the weather all the time, but come on. It's so invigorating when one feels a shift, however slight, in the seasons. I'd like those singing birds to speed us into summer now. Summer and sunny days outdoors.

The day I took these shots, four of us sat on a rug in Battersea park with a bottle of champagne until the sun went down. Bring it on.

what is this springtime you speak of? I think I have a vague sensory memory of sunshine on skin, but I may just be sitting too close to the radiator. x
